Do I receive a certification after I complete the course? What does accredited mean?

Yes! Upon successful completion of the Certificate IV in Group Pilates & Fitness Instruction, you’ll receive a nationally accredited qualification. Being accredited means our course is recognised by the Australian Government through ASQA (Australian Skills Quality Authority). This ensures your certification is industry-recognised, meets strict quality standards, and allows you to gain professional insurance and employment as a Pilates and group fitness instructor.

What is the logbook and why do I need to complete it?

In order to gain your nationally recognised qualification, you must complete a logbook of practical hours. This ensures you have real, hands-on teaching experience before becoming an instructor.

The logbook requires:

80 hours of observations of classes

This structured experience builds your confidence and ensures you’re fully prepared to step into the industry as a qualified instructor.

Still have questions?

How Long Does It Take to Become a Pilates Instructor?

One of the most common questions people ask before starting instructor training is:

“How long does it take to become a Pilates instructor?”

The answer can vary depending on the course and how quickly you progress through the learning material.

Typical Training Time

Most Pilates instructor courses take a few months to complete, depending on whether the learning is done full-time or part-time.

Many modern courses combine:

• Online theory modules

• Session planning and coursework

• Practical assessments

This flexible structure allows students to complete much of the learning at their own pace while still gaining hands-on teaching experience.

Learning at Your Own Pace

Some students complete their course quickly, while others prefer to take their time working through the material and building confidence before their practical assessment.

The most important part of training is developing the skills needed to teach safely and confidently, not simply finishing as quickly as possible.

A Career that keeps Growing

Becoming a Pilates instructor is just the beginning. Many instructors continue to develop their skills through workshops, mentoring and further training as they grow in the industry.

Progressive Face-to-Face

These are done over a period of 4 weeks; however they do require some learning to be done online before the first session and logbook hours to be completed after the practical assessment. These can be done at your own pace, however a typical timeline for a student enrolled in the face-to-face might look like this:

Before First Session:

Complete the first online modules covering Pilates principles, anatomy basics, and client consultation before attending the first face-to-face session.

Week 1

The first practical session will cover a few topics such as Pilates principles, pre-screening clients and class structure.

Week 2

Attend the second practical session where students begin working through exercise technique, cueing, and class flow.

Week 3

Continue with the third face-to-face session, focusing on programming, progressions, regressions, and practice teaching.

Week 4

Attend the final practical session and complete the practical assessment, where you will instruct a 45-minute session.

After Assessment:

Students then complete their required logbook hours, where they observe and assist in Pilates classes to further develop confidence and experience. These hours can be completed at a pace that suits your schedule.
